Photographers who like to add a bit of style to their photographic flow can rejoice as Nikon is finally adding a silver option to its line of pocketable street cameras, the Nikon Z f.
If I weren’t on such a strict gear diet in the last couple of years, the original Nikon Z f is a camera I would already have in my collection. I’m a Nikon shooter professionally, and it was always annoying having to consider other brands when it came time to look for something small and pocketable. In 2021, Nikon introduced the Z fc, an APS-C sized sensor compact Nikon body which I quickly snapped up. But, as I am a full frame snob, I definitely wished the camera was full frame. In 2023, they addressed this issue with the Nikon Z f—a full frame compact that debuted in all black.
Now, of course, our preferred style of camera is as variable as our preferred style of photography. I seem to keep ping-ponging back and forth between my own personal preference every time I purchase one. The silver body is so stylish and classic. It reminds me of the film cameras I began with. But all black holds so many practical advantages when you’re hoping to be incognito when doing street photography.

Well, now you have a choice. Today Nikon announced the release of a new silver edition of the full frame Nikon Z f. Same specs as the black version. 24.5 MP sensor. Expeed 7 image processor (same as in the Z8 and Z9). 4K video recording oversampled from the 6K sensor. 10-bit H.265. Same autofocus as the black version. Same fully articulating screen.
Obviously, the major difference is the color. Which you choose will be up to you. Are you looking for stylish and sleek silver or muted and classic black? If that’s not enough for you, there will be three new Premium Exterior color options as well (Cognac Brown, Teal Blue, and Mauve Pink) in addition to Moss Green, Stone Gray, and Sepia Brown, giving you even more choices for customization.

The new Nikon Z f Silver Edition is available for $2,199.95 (or $2,299.95 for one of the premium color options).

Since when has the Nikon ZF been a pocketable camera? How big are your pockets!
Camera? Totally pocketable. Full frame lenses attached? Not so much.
This is what cargo pants are for.
